Our practice is named for Dr. Donald B. Slocum who was a devoted champion of new approaches to orthopedic care. He undertook the first gait analysis, pioneered research in amputations as well as the mechanics of the knee. He introduced and educated the orthopedic community on the concept of knee instability and reconstruction.

We share Dr. Slocum’s vision of improving patient health through a multidisciplinary team devoted to musculoskeletal care and research, as well as treatment of bone, joint, soft tissue and related disorders.

In 1995, Orthopedic and Fracture Clinic of Eugene and the McKenzie Orthopedic Group merged to form Orthopedic Healthcare Northwest, which is now known as Slocum Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.
