Dr. Craig Mohler and his wife, Julie, came to Eugene in 1992 in large part because of the national reputation of The Slocum Center for excellence in orthopedics. In particular, he was extremely attracted to the idea of working with Dr. Dennis Collis, an internationally known hip surgeon, and Dr. Stanley James, who is recognized around the world as an expert in surgery of the knee and sports medicine. Both doctors also trained at the University of Iowa Department of Orthopedics, where they and the other doctors at The Slocum Center were held up as the best example of academic-level orthopedic surgery and research in a private practice setting.

Dr. and Mrs. Mohler have raised three children in Oregon. Attending and volunteering at their children's events, both athletic and academic, occupy much of their free time. Dr. Mohler enjoys golf and skiing with his family and has accomplished a lifetime goal of learning to play the bass guitar over the last two years. He is also considered by authorities (mainly his family) to be the foremost orthopedic computer "geek."
