"I became interested in orthopedic surgery when my mother had both hips replaced for severe arthritis. At that time the technology was just being introduced to the United States, but the operations were hugely successful. As a result of the surgery, she was able to return to an active and full life. It was truly remarkable to see the change that this surgery made in her life and her outlook. As I went through my rotations in medical school, I became further convinced how much orthopedics can help patients and knew this was a career path for me. I have been practicing orthopedics since 1988 and have never regretted my choice."
